World of Warcraft - Two Ways of Acquiring the Blue Hyacinth Macaw Parrot Companion Pet in WoW

If you are looking for a really rare companion pet in World of Warcraft, you have an absolute winner with the pretty blue parrot - the Hyacinth Macaw.
You might have seen it if you take the boat from Booty Bay. It flies around on the ship, but unfortunately there are no vendors who sell it.
But don't despair! You can get this rare vanity pet in two different ways and, if you are really serious about getting it, I suggest you try both of them.
Whom Do You Have to Kill?
Here's the good news! You can get the parrot for free, just by killing pirates in Stranglethorn Vale, which is the area around Booty Bay.
The drop rate is extremely low (.007%), so you'll have to kill around 14,000 pirates to obtain one. But then again, you could be lucky and make it with your first shot.
But there's a flip side. Each of those pirates carries something and, when you kill them, you acquire the loot. You get both silk cloth, mageweave cloth, gold and other drops and, as a bonus, you'll be able to sell it for large amounts of gold in the Auction House.
You also gain in reputation with the goblins in Booty Bay so, if you plan to get the title Bloodsail Admiral, you should only farm the parrot afterward. (To get the Bloodsail Admiral title, you must have a good reputation with the pirates, as they don't like extensive killing of their people.)
This task will probably have you occupied for around ten full days (providing you do nothing else) and you manage to kill one pirate every minute.
Luckily, there's another way...
Check the Auction House
You should also make it a habit to look in the pet section of the Auction House.
On some rare occasions, you will see this bird up for sale, but most times the price will be pretty steep. Lately, somebody offered it on my server for 35,000 gold.
But, guess what?
Some newbie could have passed by after you've killed 12,999 pirates and, by simply killing the last one, obtain the bird and sell it cheaply in Auction House - not knowing any better.
Somebody actually has reported buying the Hyacinth Macaw for 1 gold! Can you imagine that?
I bet that newbie will be admonishing himself, when he discovers his big mistake at a later date.
